📅 August 13
🕕 6:00 PM
Discover how the night sky became a guide to freedom.
Join Dr. Tameka Ellington, Curator of Black History, and Suzie Dills, Hoover-Price Planetarium Director, for a powerful and moving journey through history as we trace the path of freedom seekers who looked to the stars for direction. Using the Big Dipper—known as the “Drinking Gourd”—and the North Star, individuals navigating the Underground Railroad found hope and guidance on their journey north.
This meaningful program blends history and astronomy to explore how constellations served not only as celestial patterns, but as symbols of courage, resilience, and the pursuit of freedom.
Cost: $25 per person
Includes soup, bread, and dessert.
Pre-registration is required by Friday, August 7, 2026.
Register online at qrco.de/bgMTnx or call 330-455-7043 during regular business hours.
All proceeds support the Museum’s mission to connect audiences through history, science, and the legacy of William McKinley.
We hope you will join us for this unforgettable evening of history written in the stars.
